CELTIC, Lower Danube. Imitations of Thasos. Late 2nd-1st century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 35 mm, 15.68 g, 1 h). Celticized head of Dionysos to right, wearing wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. Celticized Herakles standing facing, arms outstretched with dotted lines extending downward from each and forming a square; legend degraded to dots and pellets in circles. Flesche -. Lanz -. OTA Class V. A beautifully toned piece struck on a very broad flan with hammered edges. Some surface cracks on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
